When most people think of process diagrams they think in terms of a straight line, from start to finish. However, many activities, including project management, consist of a central monitoring task from which we may branch off into any one of a dozen different directions. Further, there are likely to be multiple input paths that lead to the central monitoring task.
In order to represent this circular process, TaskMap process experts use what we refer to as the spider diagram.
Below is a sample of a spider diagram that shows how a clinical study is managed. This spider diagram represents just the study management portion of the entire clinical study process.
