The Renumber Tasks toolbar option allows you to renumber the Task ID for one or more Tasks.
Normally, Tasks are numbered sequentially in the order in which you drop them onto a TaskMap page, however, as you add and delete Tasks on a page, they can end up out of sequence. This toolbar button allows you to change the numbering in any way you'd like.
Both variations of the dialog box shown below allow you to accept the Task ID Letter(s) and Next Task Number suggestions offered by the software. However, you can override either or both by typing new letters or numbers in the appropriate boxes.
Important information about the Renumber Tasks function:
The Task ID Letter(s) are derived from the name of the TaskMap drawing page, as described at Naming TaskMap Drawing Pages. If the Task Renumber Options dialog shows the uppercase letter "Z" as the Task ID Letter(s) suggestion, then the renumbering function can't find a valid page name from which to extract the Task ID Letter(s). You can change the letter manually in this dialog, although it is preferable to change the page name first, then use the Renumber Tasks function.
If you request that all Tasks on a page be renumbered, they will be renumbered in the sequence in which they were originally dropped onto the TaskMap page.
If you want to control the sequence numbering for multiple Tasks on the page, select the Tasks in the sequence in which you want the numbering to be applied.
When Tasks are Selected
If you select one or more Tasks before clicking on the Renumber Tasks button, you will see the following dialog box, indicating that you can renumber the selected Task(s) or all Tasks on the current page.
Hint: When you want to select more than one Task, use the shift key while selecting the second and subsequent Tasks in the set.
When Tasks are Not Selected
If you have not selected any Tasks before clicking on the Renumber Tasks button, you will see the following dialog box, indicating that you can renumber all Tasks on the current page.
