Task Display OptionsTask Display Options

The Task Display Options toolbar button allows you to turn the display of specific Task detail data on or off.

In contrast to the Task Display On/Off button which turns the display of optional data on or off, this button allows you to control the optional data you would like to see.

This feature is useful if you want to create one TaskMap, but print and distribute different versions. For example:

Complete TaskMap, displaying all Task details, may be printed and distributed internally.

Responsible Role TaskMap, displaying only the task description and responsible role may be given to a business partner so they know whom to contact. You may also elect to display the responsible role only when it changes.

Resource TaskMap, displaying only the Task description and resources may be provided to end users or technicians so they can hyperlink to the required resource.

In addition to setting the display options, this toolbar button changes the display of data on the TaskMap, just like the Task Display On/Off button. As a result, the Task display options may be set and displayed in one step instead of two.

When Tasks are Selected

If you select one or more Tasks before clicking on the Task Display Options button, you will see the following dialog box, indicating that you can change the Task display options for the selected Task(s), all Tasks on the current page, or all Tasks on all drawing pages in the current Visio drawing file.

Task Display Options Selected

Selecting an individual Task, or a group of Tasks, and using the Task Display Options allows diagrams to be created in which some Tasks display the all details and others show only the Task description.

The following examples, illustrates this concept. The first example, below, shows all display options turned on.

The second example, below, shows select responsible roles, resources, guidelines, and supporting roles displayed for different Tasks.

When Tasks are Not Selected

If you have not selected any Tasks before clicking on the Task Display Options button, you will see the following dialog box, indicating that you can change the Task display options for all Tasks on the current page, or all Tasks on all drawing pages in the current Visio drawing file.
