The first phase is Discovery and the first task is to select a project team. We strongly recommend a project team with the following composition:
- Process participants and line manager(s):
Included for obvious reasons – they’re the ones who are part of the process every day. - IT representatives:
Essential because in today’s organizations nearly every process relies on at least one IT system. - Subject Matter Experts (SME):
Aren’t necessarily required full time but many processes rely on SMEs from Compliance, Safety, Quality Assurance and other subject areas; HCG will utilize their expertise for all activities in this project - Executive sponsor:
Present to ensure help set goals and objectives, to demonstrate positive evidence of management support for the project and to make critical decisions that may come up early in the project. (The value of an executive sponsor who can participate in occasional workshops is also important).
