BPM made simpler

If have have elements of perfectionism in your personality that finds you doing the following:

  • Completing others work who haven’t quite gotten it right
  • Getting very frustrated about keeping others on track
  • Wanting every meeting to run perfectly like clockwork
  • Having little or no tolerance for something that doesn’t meet your standards

Then perhaps you have a problem. The best project managers are delegators, but also follow up with those on the team. Just because you can do a task or process better than others, does not mean that you should pull it from them if they haven’t done it right.

Sooner or later others have to learn how to do stuff, and although it can be very frustrating when others don’t seem to be able to plan or keep stuff in line, we may need to take a deep breadth.

When this happens trying delegating and taking corrective actions such as:

  • Reminding them of a due date before it arrives
  • Give them the opportunity to send you materials in advance to review
  • Encourage them to ask questions and take responsibility for their work
  • Praise them when they complete work on time to the right standard
  • Provide feedback and suggested action plans when work does not meet time or quality standards
