A customer yesterday likened their first experiences with TaskMap and process mapping to that of a dance partner. What a great analogy for process based projects in general.
When we embark on a new project we have tools, people, technology, the way work gets done; the processes.
To the point this consultant was making, TaskMap becomes the tool used to document the choreography, or in our case the business process.
This becomes the master plan for the processes, just as the dance notation teaches the dancer what moves to make. Each step being a Task, each Task a synchronized movement of work practices. Just as in dance, there are a lot of dependencies in creating process documentation in TaskMap format. Here’s a few thoughts for the day:
- We are only as good as the partners on our team
- The goal will be to get everyone moving in the same direction at the appropriate time
- Steps have to completed before moving onto the next task
- Missing steps can cause huge problems to occur
