PRODUCT SUPPORT

All TaskMap customers receive technical support via email and this website at no cost.

If you purchase an annual software maintenance agreement, you will also receive the following:

  • Unlimited telephone and online technical support. Telephone support is available during our normal business hours; refer to the Contact Us page.
  • Free minor updates and major upgrades that provide new features and accommodate changes in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Visio.

Refer to the TaskMap Standard and TaskMap Professional product pages for information about their respective maintenance plans.

INSTALLATION AND ACTIVATION SUPPORT

The easiest way to launch TaskMap after downloading and running the installation program is to double-click the TaskMap icon on your Windows desktop. As an alternative, you can open the Windows Start menu, select TaskMap, and then choose one of the four pre-defined templates.

The first time you launch TaskMap you will be prompted to activate your license.

If you are evaluating TaskMap, choose the 30-day evaluation option instead of the activation option. We provide free technical support during your evaluation so don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or encounter any problems.

If you’ve purchased TaskMap, choose Online Activation, enter your serial number, name, company name, and email address. (Note: You can ignore the customer number field.) All TaskMap customers receive free tech support via email; TaskMap customers with an active maintenance plan can also call our support line, +1 978-800-4590 option 8, during US East Coast business hours Monday through Friday.

TRAINING

Every TaskMap includes free, online product training.

If you would like to train a group of people to use TaskMap, or if you have special training requirements for your team, please contact us to discuss your needs.

Harvard Computing Group also offers a variety of fee-based courses to help jumpstart your process capture, analysis and improvement projects. Please visit our seminars page for more information.

TASKMAP STYLE GUIDELINES

While there are few absolutely right or wrong ways to create a TaskMap, Harvard Computing Group has adopted a number of mapping conventions that make TaskMaps easier to look at and easier to read. Feel free to use the suggestions in TaskMap Layout and Style Guidelines and adapt them to your personal and organizational style.

TASKMAP TECH NOTES

TaskMap Tech Notes provide helpful solutions to common TaskMap and Visio problems.

If you need to transfer a per-user TaskMap license from one computer to another, for example because you have a new laptop or because an employee has left the company, please refer to the Licensing tab on the TaskMap FAQ page.

Note that if your company uses enterprise licenses rather than per-user licenses, license transfer is not required. Simply install TaskMap on the new PC and provide the path to the company’s TaskMap license file.

If the Shapes window containing the TaskMap stencil does not appear when you open a new or existing TaskMap, on the Visio View tab, in the Show group, select Task Panes, then Shapes.

If the TaskMap templates do not appear when you select File > New >Templates in Visio, you can add them using these steps:

  1. Select File > Options;
  2. Select the Advanced page;
  3. Scroll to the bottom and select File Locations;
  4. Use the browse button to the right of Templates and navigate to the TaskMap Templates folder, usually
    C:\Program Files (x86)\TaskMap\Templates\;
  5. Copy the template path and paste it into the Stencils box below.
