ITIL Change Management

01 Change management dashboard

The IT environment is dynamic, constantly changing in response to changing business needs, the availability and introduction of new technologies, and normal business growth. The IT environment is also extremely complex, containing many interdependencies (often on a global scale) that have become increasingly crucial for the survival of a business.

For these reasons, organizations require a disciplined change management process that can introduce required changes with minimal disruption to ongoing operations. The Change Management service management function (SMF) is designed to do this.

Effective change management will enable organizations to optimize business benefit from changes to their IT environment while minimizing availability issues, costs, and risks to the production environment.

The Change Management SMF TaskMap template provides an effective way to visualize and understand the key stages and steps involved in providing effective change management.
